TWENTY YEARS LATER
1209 HOURS
SOMEWHERE IN NORTHERN MUMBAI
“Pixie, this is Brutus. Team Two is ready on your mark.” The voice in the earpiece crackled. A woman, in full combat gear, checked her rifle, a Remington 870 MCRx.” She pressed a button on her earpiece. “Brutus, this is Pixie, standing by on Gate 3. Team Three is ready.” “Gosh guys! Stop being so profesh! It’s a simple raid. Let’s just go in when Pixies says so. Assuming she is” Pixie sighed. “Cut the chatter Arknight! It’s a serious op! Are you in position” Arknight laughed. “Yeah yeah I know. Jeez so profesh! Let’s just go in already.” Pixie sighed. No matter what, Arknight ever took an op seriously. How he managed to pas selection, she’ll never know. “Okay, team, check?” Five shadowy figures standing behind her gave her a thumbs up. “Okay Greenlight on all Teams, GO!”
She shot two quick rounds on the door, and kicked it in, and tossed in a flashbang. Her team rushed in. She knew the same thing was happening at the only other exit. They had the gang surrounded. She could hear bullets flying, grenades blowing up. She counted three, then rushed in. “Clear?” she shouted. “Clear!” She looked around, bodies lying dead, AK74s and Uzis lying around. “Team Two, say status!” She barked in her earpiece. “Room cleared, moving in now” “Copy, sweep the left, my team sweeps right.” “Good thing though! The apartment looks ugly AF sister!” “Damnit Ark, shut up!” She motioned her team to follow, then rushed to the rooms upstairs. They may have lost the element of surprise, but Pixie knew, with a fast enough assault, she could take out the rest of the gang.
She cleared the rooms with her team, one by one. She blew the locks with her shotgun, and her team entered, firing, taking out anyone inside. The thugs never knew what hit them. They barely reacted when the bullets tore them apart. “Team Two, where are you?” She shouted. “On the roof, waiting for extraction.” Copy that!” She approached the last room, and kicked it in. Just as the door cracked, she found herself getting sucked in. “Stupid! Suction charge!” She cursed before she was launched across the room.
Inside, a suited man was standing, laughing. Six bodyguards flanked him, AKs drawn. “So nice of Force One to pay us a visit! Do come in.” Her team rushed in to find Pixie at gunpoint, the Man laughing. “Gentlemen, put down your weapons, or this woman get a special bullet with her name.” He pressed his against her temple. Her team spread inside the room, their rifles aimed. “Do it, I’m not joking.” Just then, the wall behind them cracked. A single bullet came whizzing in, passing through the Man’s head. Before anyone could react, Pixie’s team mowed down the remaining thugs. “Still want me to be silent?” Arknight’s laughed in Pixie’s earpiece. “Fine, thanks for that. You happy?” Pixie got up, retrieving her rifle. “No. I saved you. You gotta pay me back. Sunday, there’s a new Chinese place that open on the corner of Lion’s Gate. You, me, a little bit whee!” “Arknight, just shut up. And it’s your job as the designated rifleman to save anyone. So no”
Pixie reached the roof. A tall muscular man stood there, waiting for him. “What happened? You are 15 minutes late behind schedule. Pickup’s waiting for you.” Brutus shouted. Pixie motioned for her team to go. They hooked up to the cord dangling from the helo hovering over them. The cord winded up, pulling them on board. “What’s wrong?” Brutus looked at Pixie concerned. “Is everything?” “They had a suction charge B. I almost got shot. I didn’t even notice it. Just kicked the door right in.” “Nightmares again?” Brutus looked concerned. She nodded. Brutus wrapped his arms around her, comforting her. “It’s okay, we’ll get through this.” She stayed silent. “Hey we gotta go!” the pilot spoke over their earpiece. “It’s fine Mark, we’re coming.” Just as they hooked up, out of the darkness, a rocket came screaming, hitting the helo. The helo was thrown off balance, and veered out of the roof. “Shit! Mark! Buzz off!” Brutus screamed, grabbing Pixie, and rushed to cover. He scanned the rooftops to see any sign of the thug who shot it.
“Arknight, I have a hostile with a RPG, just hit our helo. Can you eyeball him?” “Positive. I have him. 7o’clock from your position, up high. Taking the shot” Brutus turned and peered through his scope. He saw a man, loading a RPG, aiming at him. He zoomed in to see the man, holstering the rocket, getting ready, when, with a jolt, he felll.”Brutus, scanning for any possible hostiles. Hold position.” Brutus turned to Pixie. She sat there in shock. Suction charges can disorient a person for a long time. Clearly she was in no shape to fight. And right now, he was all they had.
